What Do My SGPT & SGOT Levels Indicate?

hi doc I am a chronic hep b carrier detected 12 years back without any symptoms. got regular check up. SGPT & SGOT never exceeded 40 iu , HBS +,HBE -, ANTI HBE +,ALPHA FETO PTN 2.5,FIBROSCAN BELOW 5 RULESOUT ANY FIBROSIS,DNA 1 YEAR BACK2000 IU, SIX MONTH BACK 9000 IU, NOW 19000 IU. MY DOCTOR ASKED FOR LIVER BIOPSY AFTER 3 MONTHS AND SAYS HE WILL START MEDICINE. PL ADVISE

Hi,

Treatment of hep B depends on viral load, more than, 1200 copies usually require treatment, and rising SGPT or ALT as well. However liver biopsy if planned may be continued as per plan.
