Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took an x-ray of a finger and the results said a possible distal impingement syndrome, What is it and what can be done for the sudden and lasting pain? The pain comes on if I hit the tip or nail of a particular finger. Please help by providing any information links for a layperson of course. Any assistance will be sincerely appreciated. Dottie
There will be an outpouching from a bone fragment and causing pain. Drugs like diclofenac will be effective. In severe cases surgical excision of the abnormal bone fragment may be needed. Consult an orthopedic and he will direct you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
