What Do My Blood Test Results Indicate?

9 yr old girl hemoglobin reading result of 13.4 with the norms from the lab showing 11.5 to 15.5-----I am an adult male and the norms from my lab are listed as 13.2 to 17.1- why are the lab norms so different? The girl fainted once for like a few seconds and the docs have not found an answer- Could she be having slight anemia which could have caused the fainting ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

She currently has normal values of haemoglobin and doesn't have anemia.
The hemoglobin values are different for different genders. An adult male values are higher than those of a little girl.
She may get further evaluated checking for diabetes or heart disease possibly causing the fainting.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
