Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
9 yr old girl hemoglobin reading result of 13.4 with the norms from the lab showing 11.5 to 15.5-----I am an adult male and the norms from my lab are listed as 13.2 to 17.1- why are the lab norms so different? The girl fainted once for like a few seconds and the docs have not found an answer- Could she be having slight anemia which could have caused the fainting ?
She currently has normal values of haemoglobin and doesn't have anemia. The hemoglobin values are different for different genders. An adult male values are higher than those of a little girl. She may get further evaluated checking for diabetes or heart disease possibly causing the fainting.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
