What does this mean? SMEARS STUDIED REVEAL SUPERFICIAL SQUAMOUS CELLS, INTERMEDIATE SQUAMOUS CELLS AND METAPLASTIC SQUAMOUS CELLS NOTED.BENIGN REACTIVE CELLULAR CHANGES ARE NOTED.BACKGROUND SHOWS DODERLEIN BACILLI AND BUDDING FORMS OF CANDIDA sps ALONGWITH NEUTROPHILS. NO EVIDENCE OF MALIGNANCY SEEN.
Suggestive of fungal infection. As per the Papanicolaou (Pap) smear report the cervix appears to be normal at the time of taking the smear. There is no evidence of early precancerous or cancerous cells.
Presence of budding forms of candida is suggestive of fungal infection. This infection is more common in during pregnancy, females with diabetes, on hormonal contraceptive pills or antibiotics or immunosuppressives like steroids.
Consult your doctor for possible treatment with antifungal medications. A feedback is appreciated.
