What Do My Lab Test Results Indicate?

Hi I just got Dx with DCIS stage 0. It s an irregular shape 5.1 cm x 2.2 cm x 4.1 cm and the depth is 4.2 cm. it s contained. From reading, I understand the recs would be lumpectomy plus radiation n hormonal therapy. Also greater than 98% estrogen/ progesterone receptor. If it was your love one., would you advise to go through mastectomies? And you still want to have the BRAC 1&2 test done? I feel it s a safe proof just to have the mastectomies . Thank you for your expertise opinion . Thuy

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Her ductal carcinoma in situ malignancy is large in size and depth also.

So I suggest undergoing a mastectomy operation that is to remove the affected breast.

If it would be small in size than breast-sparing surgery can be done followed by radiotherapy.

So mastectomy will be better for her as per my opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
