Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 16 yr. old daughter has been with pain in her upper back for over 2 years. As an active athlete she complains of pain 24/7. It took 7 doctors and several misdiagnoses to finally have the answer or so we think. The body scan and CT scan revealed a broken 2nd rib. After all this time she is still in pain and the spine surgeon says that the callus is still there and it is big and rubbing on spine and possibly causing the pain. I would like another opinion. She is in pain and would like some answers. Thank you for reading my letter. Adriana

What Do My Scan Reports Indicate?
Hello, The radiological investigations show a fractured 2nd rib. I suggest you consult an orthopedician for management of broken 2nd rib. Fracture of rib requires immobilization, rest and pain killers only. Healing of fracture rib can help to reduce the pressure caused by callus. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
