Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am very sick. Have had symptoms for 1.5 yrs. Have had 3 colonoscopies, 2 endoscopies and Dr.s say they cant find anything. I had an ultrasound done, they found my small intestine is swallowing itself? But never followed up. I m in pain. Stomach is extended at least 2x normal size. Diarrhea all day every day. So bad I hardly leave home anymore. Sometimes vomit clear foamy stuff in morning upon awakening. My stools are not stools they are mucus, runny, and like pencils.
I would recommend you to have stool examinations such as a stool for ova and parasites, stool culture, stool antigen for giardia and also tests to rule out gluten intolerance (a blood test to detect gluten intolerance).
If all the tests come out normal, pancreatic enzyme deficiency can be suspected and pancreatic enzymes can be taken. Also, Loperamide can be used to reduce the frequency of bowel movements and control diarrhea. Try to avoid milk, greasy food and very sweet food as these may make diarrhea worse.
I hope this is helpful. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
