What Do Nausea And Discomfort In The Chest Indicate?

23 yo female. Chest upper and discomfort, esp lying down, after meals but not always, not related to certain foods. Persistent nausea. Tums with some short term relief. Had stool tested for infection and o/p all nageative. Started by pcp on pantroprazole for 2 weeks not relief. Now with reoccurring diarrhea. Continued nausea.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Persistent nausea, heartburn, increasing on laying down in a female of 23 and started on Pantoprazole by a PCP still diarrhea reoccurring indicate on of the following reasons:
Gastroenteritis that is not cured or ill-treated.
Gastritis with GERD.
Colitis or so or may be an IBS.
This can be diagnosed by the following ways:
Consult a Gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations of Upper GI Endoscopy, Ultrasonography of abdomen.
Tests of stool again for two more days to see for a possible cause.
All these will lead a probable cause and thus guide the additional treatment and management.
Take soft and bland diet, early dinner and walk about before sleep.
Domperidone and antacids on empty stomach will help you more.
