Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Dr. I was just wondering about swollen lymph nodes (supraclavicular one sided) Im in my last year of studies in medicine, I have seen my professor today, he said nothing important so far (swollen and movable) so what do you think the cause? I had a massage for my shoulders 2 days ago, because I have cervical syndrome. but the swollen nodes are accompanied with numbness?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain in case if you have swollen supraclavicular lymph nodes that are mobile and numb can be due to recent history or presence of infection in the head, neck and chest region and it is true that mobile lymph nodes are not indicative of malignancy and are mostly Reactive Lymphadinitis secondary to infection..
I would however advise you to get a biopsy of the lymph nodes done to rule out the exact cause of the swelling and treatment can be planned accordingly. In case if it is due to infection antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicines can help.. As of now you can do warm compresses over the lymph nodes and if there is pain you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Advil..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
