What Do Numbness And Tingling Sensation On The Face Indicate?

Hello- My daughter who is 24, has been complaining of some tingling/numbness on the right side of her face, neck and shoulder. She said even her eye has felt numb, almost like she s been to the dentist and has had lots of local anesthetic. She is a hairdresser who uses her right arm rigorously all day. Could this be a compressed nerve of some sort?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Numbness and tingling sensation of the face can be due to causes like Facial nerve Palsy which occurs due to infection, inflammation, trauma or compression of the facial nerve over the affected side..

It can also be due to beginning of Migraine or rarely due to stroke..

So my advise to you is to consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and if needed an MRI Scan can be done for ruling out the exact cause of the symptoms..

You can be advised multivitamin supplements and steroids along with Physiotherapy for relief depending upon the diagnosis..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
