What Do Numbness And Tingling Sensation On The Face Indicate?
I have numbness or tingling on the left side of my face. Starts at my jawline up to middle of forehead. It feels sensitive to touch, almost like someone is lightly prickling my face. I had this several months ago and it went away. Now that it has come back, it has me concerned. I am a female, 62 years old.
Understanding your concern. As per your query numbness and tingling sensation on the face is because of nerve impingement or pressure on facial nerve which can lead to facial paralysis. Need not to worry about it. Go for physical therapy of facial muscles. Avoid opening mouth extreme wide while jawing. Visit dentist once and get it examined to rule out nerve compression , neuralgia or other conditions like neuropathy. If it is not due to dental related cause visit neurologist once and get it examined. Doctor may prescribe MRI of brain as it could be related to stroke. Neurotropic medication such as nerve supplement , methylcobalamine is effective to improve your symptoms.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
