What Do Pain And Discomfort In The Upper Abdomen Indicate?

I got my gallbladder out almost 2 years ago. I have been having discomfort in my upper abdomen, the same area where I had gallbladder attack pain. I noticed this morning that the area is also yellow, about the size of my palm on both sides of my upper area. Any idea what is happening?

Hi

I had seen your complaints carefully. I can understand your worry.
Gall bladder removal has many complications, which can be short term or long term. As it had been 2 years, there is no possibility of short term effects. (bleeding, acute infection, diarrhea etc.)

Coming to long term effects relating to your complaints, injury to any neighboring organs (intestine and liver), chronic infection can be presented after many days. As pain was not so severe and there was no fever, we can exclude any long term complication also.
In case of abdominal pains, ultrasonography is very important for diagnosis. In my opinion it is better to go for following investigations before confirming diagnosis:
1. USG of abdomen
2. Liver function tests

There is no need to worry, but investigations guide us in a better way. We can conclude whether it is complication of gall bladder removal or jaundice or fatty liver.

Take Care!
