What Do Pain And Pressure In The Chest And Arms Indicate?

I ve been experiencing some tightness in my muscles in my chest and that generate pain down my arm joints like in elbow and fingers. Best way to describe it is like a charlie horse in my chest. Typically will subside in about 20 - 30 minutes but pretty painful during duration. My doctor doesn t seem to think it s heart related but a side effect of thyroid imbalance. I don t exercise at all so wondering if it s a symptom of weak muscles.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

according to history provided we should first to rule out cardiac course by simple EKG INVESTIGATION. If no cardiac causes present then check your thyroid and diabetes status. Also provide any history of cervical spine problem is present and if it is suspected then X-ray spine needs to be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
