What Do Pain And Swelling In The Arms And Shoulder Indicate?
I started with my hands feeling swollen when they were not. Now my thumb and finger next to my thumb on my left hand tingle, I feel radiating pain up my arm and much pain in my shoulder. Unbearable. My Dr said I may have carpal tunnel. But the shoulder pain is extremely painful with or without the hand brace. Any suggestions
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Carpal tunnel would cause abnormal sensations in the hands but would not usually affect the shoulder since the change for carpal tunnel occurs in the wrist. You may have arthritis or other issues in the shoulder. Imaging of the shoulder should be considered.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions. Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
