Hi, i have a cold for a wewk now and my ear started to hurt non stop. I went to my ent and she said my eardrums were swollen, she recommended me some medications. It was fine for a few hours but later on, i started hearing robotic echoes especially when im watching the tv. But i dont really get these echoes for little sounds.

Dear user, There is a connection between the throat and the middle ear, called the Eustachian tube which swells up and gets blocked whenever there is a throat infection or a cold/sinus infection. When that happens there is increased pressure in the ear and on the ear drums which causes swelling and bulging of the ear drums with pain and also some sounds. You need to continue medication, which I suppose are antihistamines and antibiotics if necessary. Nasal drops and steam inhalation will keep the nasal passages and the Eustachian tube clear and get rid of the pain sounds you are hearing. Steam inhalation at least 3 times a day is recommended. If the pain persists, please go to your doctor again.
Thank you.
