Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

The abnormal sensations may be due to abnormal nerve function of the nerves in the area. This is the most common cause for the symptoms described. It can be temporary or permanent. If it repeats, then a cause should be determined if possible, in some persons, the cause is not found. Causes include:

(1) Diabetes
(2) Trauma to the particular nerve either at the origin, in this case the neck or some where along its path.
(3) Low vitamin b12 or folate

(4) Liver or kidney disease
(5) Side-effects of medication
(6) Thyroid disease
(7) Abnormal levels of vitamin B6
(8) Infection such as shingles

You can consider monitoring for now unless it worsens or continues.

Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
