What Do Pain In Tailbone And Rectal Bleeding Indicate?
Hi my mom has had terrible tail bone pain for months now and this seems to have subsided. But now she is bleeding from her rectum almost constantly. Every time she pees or just sits on the towlet. But when she has a bm there doesn t seem to be much blood at all.
Your mother has had terrible tail bone pain for months, it has now subsided but she is now bleeding from the rectum constantly. Her bowel movement does not show any blood at all. You are suggested to get your mom clinically examined by a GP / Surgeon. It needs to be evaluated if the blood coming out from the rectum is fresh or not as it may be indicative of anal fissure, hemorrhoids / piles or some kind of fracture or tear of the muscle, tendon or ligament.
Sometimes, it is indicative of ulcers, abscess, IBD, Crohn's disease and colitis. Life threatening diseases like cancer, colorectal cancer, etc. She will have to get required blood works, stool examination (R/E and C/S), anal examination, imaging tests if required to be done so that the treatment can be started at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
