What Do Pain In The Wrist And Stiffness In The Knees Indicate?

severe sudden pain right wrist shooting into back of hand, stiffness and pain in right knee, severe pain on inside of ankle right foot just under ankle bone, pain shoots into and thru ankle just under bone. is this my fibromyalgia acting up? or could this be carpel tunnel in wrist and arthritis in knee and ankle?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This does not not look to be fibromyalgia, as pain of fibromyalgia is never acute and is distributed more widely like both sides of body and above and below. It is very slow in onset and is for very long time. Similarly it does not look to be carpal tunnel syndrome as that more is slow to occur, and pain is more in the outer half of the hand. This seems to me like an arthritis which can be due to so many reasons, such as virus, gout, autoimmune, so I would advise you should see your doctor to find out what could be the cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
