What Do Pain, Swelling And Burning Sensation In The Right Breast Indicate?

I have developed pain in my right breast. I first thought I was laying on my CPAP hose that was causing the pain and discomfort. I have made sure the hose is not impinging on my breast and I am not laying on it. The breast is swollen, with tingling itchy burning sensation. This has been going on now for 2 weeks. I am scheduled for my annual mammogram in Feb.which all have been normal.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are many possibilities for swollen and painful breast including infection, fibrocystic disease of the breast and many other causes.

You need to do the following tests in the nearest medical center:
1- Complete clinical assessment.
2- Complete blood count.
3- Ultrasound of the breast.
4- Mammogram of the breast.

You can apply cold compressors to your breast to relieve the swelling and the pain. Beside this, you can take over the counter analgesic when necessary. I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Take care.
