Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 10 year old daughter has just started having sore lumpy breasts. Currently the right one feels fairly hard. She said last week it was the left one. I know part of it is just her breasts starting to develop but it feels pretty hard so I just wanted to check if that could be more than normal development.
Hello It's normal for a girl between 8 and 12 years to have a sore breast with lumps which means the normal development of her breast. The presence of lump on one side than another it's also normal, those lumps are glands that make oils to keep nipples soft, and there're starting to develop on one side earlier than another. So don't worry, it's only her normal development. For the breast soreness, make sure she wears soft fabrics over them. If her breasts hurt when she run or move, a regular well fitting bra can help, but a sports bra can do a better job. And if they still hurt, it can help to place a warm pad over them.
Hope I answered your question Best regards Dr. Noor Farid
