What Do Painful Pimples In The Groin Area Indicate?

Hi I got this cluster of painful pimples after a sweaty day on my vigina lip. I assumed its herpes infection since three months earlier I had a cold sores. Now my question is how do I treat it fast and how do I avoid infecting my new boyfriend. We haven t been intimate yet but we are planning to and should I tell him about it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is very important to discuss the diagnosis of herpes infection with your boyfriend. You should not be sexually active while you have the active lesions and also you should use condoms regularly to reduce the chance of transmission.
You will also need to be checked for other sexually transmitted diseases such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, Hepatitis B, syphilis, etc.

Treatment for genital herpes may consist of oral acyclovir. This is a prescription drug and you will need to access a prescription through your local doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
