What Do Painful Rashes Around The Eyes And Mouth Indicate?
My wife is 48 years old. In May, out of nowhere she developed a severe, painful rash around her mouth and eyes. She has been to allergist and dermatologist and no one is able to determine the root cause or help her. She is miserable to the extent this is wrecking her life.
Painful rash around the mouth and eyes can be due to a condition known as Peri- oro-facial Dermatitis..
It can be caused due to disturbances in microbial flora over the skin, bacterial infection, nasal and topical steroids, flouridated toothpastes, harsh chemical cosmetics, poor facial hygiene, hormonal imbalances etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and advise you to apply topically ointments containing Doxycycline, Metronidazole.. You can also be advised oral intake of erythromycin.. Ointments containing Azaelic acid,Pimecrolimus etc can help.. Avoid any skin cosmetic or steroid ointments.. Avoid excess sun exposure, use gel based sunscreen lotion..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
