Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On the other part my right thigh there is a raised bump with 3 bite marks, over the past 2 weeks the area around the bite marks has become more red and is painful to the touch, in addition there is a bruise around the area, it started out about golf ball size and is now the size of a baseball.
If there are bite marks with raised bump causing redness and pain seems to be due to infection at the site of bite..
As the swelling and pain is increasing, you should consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics to control infection, anti inflammatory painkillers like Advil and also Levocetrizine to reduce the allergic effect of the bug bite toxin.. Along with it apply a combination of steroid and antiseptic ointment over the lump.. Do cool compresses to reduce inflammation and swelling.. Avoid scratching the area to avoid spread of infection..
In case if there is pus formation then the Physician can do incision and drainage for relieving faster..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
