What Do Persistent Headaches Indicate?

I have been having headaches for a couple of weeks. The pain first started at the base of my skull on the right hand side - now the discomfort is in the right temporal area. If I take 1 extra strength Tylenol the pain subsides. I did move a heavy piece of furniture a couple of weeks ago - I am not sure if this precipitated the headaches Should I call my doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for the query.

As per your headache description, if this problem is for more than a month then it could be migraine.
For acute treatment -
If it subsides with Tynelol 500 mg dose, it's good sign. Many a times migraine patients require higher doses or other higher pain reliever.
For prophylaxis, 4-5 groups of drugs are available.
My advice is to consult MD or neurophysician to confirm the diagnosis and for further evaluation for starting prophylactic treatment.

I hope this information will help you.
