What Do Pregnancy Symptoms With Negative Result In HPT Indicate?

Last month my period was 5 days late and when it came it started mid day and was very lite with no noticeable cramps and stopped that night. The next day was a bit heavier i needed to wear a liner for when i would stand up some would come out but it was mostly cm and almost brown blood with a few tiny almost like cots with some menstrual like cramps that woukd ease completely with my feet up and again stopped that night. The next day was very lite pink no cramps and stopped mid day completely. This month if i go by my normal cycle my period is 6 days late but if that was a period its not due until for another day. I do have some symptoms that make me think i might be pregnant like extreme frequent urination, bumps on my aerola and bumbs that surrounds the circumference of tbe aerola. Light nausea in the am and late night, extreme hunger, heightened sense of smell, gas, increased spit etc. But a few days ago i took a cheap pregnancy test the kind you stick in the urine the only disposable cup i had was aluminum (not sure if that could mess with the results) and i got one thick line which i assume is negative. Could the test be a false negative? I assume if i was pregnant my levels shoukd be high enough to register even with my extreme frequent urination. Could it have been a miscarriage and the lingering levels becausing the other symptoms?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As your period was 5 days late last month, you should consider the new date, 5-days late date for the projected date of your menstruation this month. So what you are considering 6 days late might just be one day over your expected date and if you get periods as late as 10 days after your projected date it can be considered normal. Some changes in dates are okay as it is affected by level of stress, temperature, your environment, level of exercise etc. Thus, the symptoms you are having might be premenstrual symptoms and you may get periods soon.

In addition, if you want to go for urine pregnancy test, you can buy a pregnancy test kit with the stick from the medical store and test it with the first urine of the morning. Alternatively, you can go for a blood test for pregnancy which is more reliable.

However, if you experience extreme premenstrual symptoms every month and delayed menstruation, then a consultation and physical examination by the gynecologist are advised.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

Best,
