What Do Prolonged Pain In Ear, Sore Throat And Hoarse Voice Indicate?

Developed sore throat and coughing up phlem, along with very hoarse voice. After one day developed headache on right side of head and ear pain. Finished z-pack and on 5th day of augmentin. No improvement in ear pain and hoarse voice for 10 days. Could this be anything more than a really bad cold?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain the symptoms of sore throat, coughing up of phlegm, hoarse voice that is due to Laryngitis, headache and earache seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection that is causing sinusitis and ear infection..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture, sinus x ray, otoscopic examination of ear can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
He can advise you another course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestant like Pseudoephadrine, mucolytics like Ambroxol, anti histaimne like levocetrizine, warm saline gargles, steam inhalations, saline nasal irrigation and antibiotic ear drops..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Sip on plenty of warm water..
Maintain a good oral hygiene and take ample of rest..
Chew Vitamin C pellet as it will boost up immunity and accelerate recovery..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
