Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My brother in law is in the hospital, both feet are purple with blisters appearing, his hands are starting to turn purple also. His heart is at 20% capacity and lungs less. Surgeons can t operate because he wouldn t survive surgery. He is hooked to a morphine drip through his stomach. I know that he will pass away, but I am concerned for my nieces and nephews who are with him 24hrs. They are exhausted and all have small children. I want to talk to them about going home for a rest, but I don t want to do that if his death is imminent. What is the duration of his life expectancy. He is heavily sedated and not aware of their presence
It is difficult to say what is his life expectancy not knowing the age, diabetic status and if hé bas infection in blood stream , on ventilator . Pts sévère infection (sepsis) with mulitiple organs failing may have more than 60% mortality.
