What Do Raised Bumps On Tongue Indicate?

My tongue feels dry on the sides and I have these raised bumps, that are painless, on the one side of my tongue. They are no particular color but it s just more annoying than anything. What could these be and why is my tongue so dry? I drink ALOT of water so I am not dehydrated. I am just worried that it might be something more serious like cancer. Should I be worried and should I get this checked by a dentist or doctor?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that dryness of tongue is due to a condition known as Dry mouth that leads to reduced saliva formation and as the saliva formation is reduced, although you drink plenty of water still the tongue and mouth feels dry..
Secondly raised bumps over the tongue seems to be probably due to Transient Lingual Pappilitis that is due to swollen tongue papillae that contains taste buds and seems probably be secondary to dry mouth..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can evaluate for the cause of dry mouth and treating dry mouth will help in resolving the symptoms of inflamed papillae too..
As of now you can start gargling with specialized mouthwash formulated for dry mouth patients like Biotene..
Chew sugarfree chewing gums as it helps in stimulating saliva folw..
You can also take Multivitamin supplements.
Gargle with cool water and suck ice popscicles..
Do warm saline gargles..
Avoid spicy foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
