Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So my friend is 82 and works outside doing yard stuff. we live in a very treed neighborhood. He has had a rash on lower extremities for almost a year. On and off steroids. it blisters and oozes. Has no other symptoms. The steroids would help it for awhile. Now they want to do a bone biopsy??
As per your query you have symptoms of rashes on the lower extremities which seems to be mainly due to contact dermatitis, eczema, heat rash and due to an allergic reaction of body and constant exposure to an allergen.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you apply an ice pack to reduce redness and itchiness. Maintain good personal hygiene. Use a powder to avoid sweat collection and apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesion. If the condition doesn't get well then consult a dermatologist for proper examination. The doctor may prescribe antibiotics like Clindamycin, oral antifungal or antibacterial depending upon the diagnosis. if symptoms still keep on the persisting go for allergy testing and start treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
