What Do Recurring Hot Flushes And Pins And Needles On Head In A Smoker Suggest?
Hi, i am a 48yr old male, i am a smoker of 20ish a day and have the occasional drink socially at the weekend nothing major roughly 10 units, i do have high cholesterol at 6.5 and am on statins. Lately i have noticed i have been having episodes of what i can only describe as a hot flush followed immediately by pins and needles mainly on the top of my head, this is sometimes followed by a very brief spate of light headedness. Hope one of the doctors on here can help.
Hot flashes with pins and needles over the head indicates most likely stress induced changes from hormone alteration. Following measures will help you: - Drink more liquids to maintain hydration - Apply cold water sponging cloth over the forehead 5 minutes each 2 times a day - Use analgesic as acetaminophen (325 mg) 3 times a day after meals - Control of blood sugar - Avoid smoking at present - Avoid stress and anxiety - Maintain regular, sound sleep of 8 hours
Consult your primary care for one time measurement of blood pressure and if needed he or she may guide you basic lab reports or other work up pertaining to your case.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
