What Do Recurring, Painful Lump Above Left Buttock Indicate?

I have a small lump or node that is painful above my left buttock below waist. This flares up once in a while and then is not noticeable again for months. It is approx 3in left of mt spine. I sit all day long. It is painful when it flares up and feels like the consistency of an eyeball and can be moved. Any idea what this could be. It is a little larger than the size of a pea.

Hi, thanks for sharing your health concerns with HCM!
If I were your treating Doctor for this case of constant or recurrent left buttock lump, I would come up with three possibilities, these include:

1.     a lipoma or dermatofibroma or neurofibroma
2.     The second possibility is of an infected benign cyst like sebaceous cyst
3.     The last possibility is of some benign polyp-like lesion (eg, fibro-epithelial polyp)!

Overall, it is benign and not to worry about this but you could go for FNAC test for confirmation if still worried!

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
