What Do Red And Purple Spots On The Lips Indicate?
I have a red sometimes purple spot on my upper lip for years now, It vanishes when pressed then quickly reappears, I ve always thought it was some kind of busted blood vessel, I call it a strawberry but it s been more purple lately & is getting bigger, is this anything to be concerned about?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have red and purple spots on the lips which could be due to number of reasons such as could be due to allergic reaction, mucocele, hematoma secondary to lip biting, fixed drug eruptions and can be trauma to the lip. Nothing to be panic, usually these conditions are self limiting and get resolved with in a week. You should take a course of oral antihistamines along with topical steroid application. You should consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. If it is not subsiding in a week time, then you should get biopsy of lesions done and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
