What Do Red Bumps On The Left Side Of The Forehead Indicate?

My 15 month old baby has a line of about 6 raised red bumps on the left side of his forehead. They look a bit like mosquito bites but it s the middle of winter. He s had them for about a week and they have now scabbed and the surrounding area has become less red, but is still slightly raised. No fever and no signs it has caused him any itching or discomfort. No other marks, he s otherwise healthy. I have used domestic antiseptic cream on it, but I am mystified as to what it could be... thought of bedbugs but surely he d have them other places by now, ditto headlice and we don t have pets. Any idea what it could be? I will go to see the doctor if it doesn t clear soon, but holding off as it s flu season and don t really want to take him there if it s not absolutely necessary.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is possible that the rash is impetigo. This is a bacterial infection that is commonly seen in children and when it is resolving, it has the appearance of crusting.

It is treated with topical or oral antibiotics (if severe).

Your doctor can determine if this is the cases, if it does not resolve

I hope this helps
