Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have little red bumps on my tonsil beds. Most of the white (I assume these are the scabs) have come off. I didn t feel as much pain as I ve seen others have felt, online.. not sure if it s normal to not feel a lot pain when the scabs fall off. But I d like to know what these bumps are? They re not painful. Just unsettling not knowing what to do.
The white scabs can be due to tonsil stones or tonsilloliths. Red spots can be due to low-grade chronic infection due to tonsil stones. It is a potent cause for infection and inflammation of tonsils and bad breath. A sore throat that is recurring is most probably due to tonsil stones.
I would suggest you remove the tonsil stones using a q-tip and in order to reduce its formation, you should do warm saline gargles. Gargle with 1:1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water. Always gargle with water after meals. Limit intake of dairy products.
In case if they are not being removed, you should consult an ENT Physician and get evaluated and they can remove it manually using fine tweezers.
In case if still the problem does not resolve then the last resort is to get the Tonsils removed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora,
Dentist
