What Do Red, Raised And Scabbed Bumps On Glans Of Penis Suggest?
Hey, my name is Austin and I have 3 red, raised, and scabbed bumps on the glans (head) of my penis and I have no idea what it is, I m just scared. I really need answers. There is also a bump on the flagellum of my penis and another bump on the shaft. Please give me answers.
You have not mentioned if you are sexually active or not. If you are not sexually active then these bumps may be harmless.
They are penile papules, ingrown hairs, pimples or cysts. do not scratch, do not pop them.
Take care of your personal hygiene, keep the private area clean & dry. It will go away on its own. You can apply neosporin or hydrocortisone ointment/ gel if its itchy.
Infections are triggered in sweaty, warm private parts. Wear loose fitting comfortable cotton pants.
If you have been sexually active & entertaining different partners then your symptoms can be indicative of STD (Herpes, HPV, genital warts, etc).
You are suggested to get tested for STD & avoid sex for a couple of days. Ideally both the partners should be tested so that the treatment (antivirals /antibiotics) can be started if reports are positive.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
