What Do Red Rashes On The Calves While On Synthroid Indicate?

I am taking Synthroid 75 mcg. I work at an entertainment venue that sometimes requires me to be on my feet outside for up to 13 hours in the heat The last 3 times i have developed big red blotchy spots on my calves. They are not burnt and don t hurt. I have had various blood work and an ultrasound of my lower legs to check for vein problems but they cannot find anything wrong. I worked last night and again my legs are a hideous color of dark red. Any insight into what the problem could be?

I have reviewed your query about your husband and here are my thoughts.

Red rashes on calves on long standing say for 13 hours a day in normal color doppler studies indicate that there may be a problem with the circulation under the skin that is not picked up by any color doppler studies.
Long standing causes stasis of the blood causing discoloration of skin temporarily that regains normal color on lying down but if the capillaries rupture then the discoloration may last for long.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Use stockings.
Avoid long standing.
Walk around or lye down for some time in between to make stasis move up.
Also get capillary fragility test.
If you are a female patient, stop using any OC pills or hormonal preparations with a consultation of your Gynecologist.
