What Do Red Spots On The Back And Stomach Indicate?

My one and a half year old has developed some type of rash. I noticed it yesterday, but at that point it was a small Cluster of tiny red spots. I assumed it was an insect bite and put anti itch cream on it, but today the rash has spread to his back and stomach. He seems a bit fussy and irritable. The spots are very small, red, and seem to be in clusters of three. I plan to take him to his doctor first thing tomorrow, but if I could get some insightful information here, I d be very grateful Thanks in advance!!

check weather child is running fever?
