hi sir/mam,its great that you are very much concerned about your nephew.the condition he is suffering from is papular
urticaria.it is a type of
hypersensitivity reaction to especially insects,be it a mosquito, bed bug, fleas or any other. most of the times as kids skin is very sensitive, even contact with an insect makes it allergic.its very itchy that baby is compelled to scratch and secondary bacterial infections may occur leading to pigmented spots after healing.the following are the measures to be taken to control :
1)first baby must be covered well i.e;the entire body including hands(full hands shirts and gloves),legs(trousers and socks).
2)change the bedsheets almost alternate day and also check for any bugs in bed.
3)under garments of baby are to be changed immediately if they are wet.also have measures to control mosquitoes like repellants, nets etc.
4)also check the play area if there are any irritants.
5)last but not the least is medication.syr.
atarax syrup(10mg/5ml) 3.5ml twice daily.
topical steroid like betnasol can be applied only on the red spots.
6)good moisturiser is to be applied all over the body atleast once daily.
cetaphil lotion can be used.
7)if the child complains of burning,
calamine lotion can be applied.
8)eradication of causative agent or prevention of its exposure remain the main stay of treatment.
i wish your kid gets relief by the above treatment as soon as possible.any other health issues, kindly let me know.its my pleasure to guide you.thank you.take care.bye.
