Hello,
Your symptoms are indicative of
pharyngitis. You are suggested to gargle your throat with salt water 2-3 times a day. Take liquid, semi solid food for a couple of days so that you do not hurt your throat delicate mucosa. You can take a course of antibiotics like doxycycline for 5 days. If you are allergic to doxycycline you can take
azithromycin.
Take sips of water whole day. Keep yourself well hydrated, take water and fluids. You can take analgesics,
acetaminophen , one stat when needed to reduce soreness, inflammation and pain. Keep cough lozenges to feel better. Keeping a room humidifier will be better. Since you are worried about your
throat infection as you have been active doing oral sex, some other tests that may aid diagnosis.
Get clinically examined by an ENT and get done a blood test for Epstein-Barr, the virus that causes mono, a
throat culture to test for less common viruses, such as chlamydia. A throat culture to test for
Streptococcus bacteria, which cause
strep throat. You will be accordingly treated if tests are found to be positive. Stay away from any kind of sexual activity, even oral sex for a couple of days.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
