Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have some fatty looking skin tag type things on my throat, I quit smoking several years ago but still use smokeless tobacco occasionally. I haven t really noticed any of the normal signs of throat cancer, but I have a swollen tonsil on one side, and several small skin tag looking things where my tongue and throat meet. Does this sound like throat cancer?
As per your query, you have symptoms of skin tag in the throat which is mainly due to swelling in the tonsils and there might be associated redness which is due to infection.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take few preventive measures such as do warm saline gargles several times a day and avoid cold beverages.
You should keep your head elevated while sleeping. You should avoid eating spicy and sharp food substances. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination. The doctor may order test like swab test and can do physical examination with laryngoscope. The Doctor may also prescribe antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis along with anti-inflammatory medications to subside the infection.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
