What Do Small Bumps On The Scrotum Indicate?

I ve had two relatively small bumps/lumps with a white head for a REALLY long time on the right side of my scrotum. They hadn t really been a problem until recently, because one of them had gotten infected and became swollen and pretty big. It hurt really bad but I left it alone, thinking it was going to solve itself. However, two or three days ago, the second one also ended up getting infected and the pain is immense. The size of this thing is really big and it hurts really bad when the scrotum expands and then contracts (which is does a lot). Also, since it s relatively close to my thigh, it rubs against almost all of the time, even when I am not walking, and hurts really badly. I am 16 years old and not sexually active. What should I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

I feel it might be Fordyce granules, which are visible sebaceous glands that are present in most individuals. They are not associated with any illness but represent a natural occurrence on the body. They do not need any treatment. I would not advise you to scratch it, as it increases the risk of infection.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest an examination by the doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
