What Do Small Red Dots On The Lower Legs And Ankles Indicate?

Hello I have small red dots on the front part of my lower legs and around my ankle. It seems to be getting worse. There is no pain and it does not itch. In a way, it looks like a heat rash but I ve had it before the summer started. Is this something to be alarmed by? Thanks

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Red colored dots on front of legs could be due to petechiae. Petechiae are pin point hemorrhagic spots caused by disorders of platelets. I suggest you to get complete blood counts along with platelet counts. Kindly, consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and investigations.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
