What Do Small Rubbery Nodes On Neck, Jaw And Around The Ear Suggest?

I ve had a swollen lymph node in my neck for around 8 months, I m 24 years old and fairly healthy. I noticed that it felt as though it were split, or two nodes stuck together while remaining mobile but rubbery. At a video with my GP he felt it quickly and said that it was mobile so it was not an issue. Should I go demand more rigorous testing or consult with another physician? I m slightly concerned I may have some sort of malignancy, as I have many small rubbery nodes in my neck, jaw, and one near my ear (although most of these have been swollen for as long as I can remember)

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

I can understand your concern.

It will be better for you to consult your physician for detailed clinical examination.
There is a need for evaluation of liver, spleen and lymph node enlargement at other site.

Matted lymph node (feeling like split or two stucked lymph node) may be feature of Tuberculosis (TB).

Following investigations help in making appropriate diagnosis -
- Complete Blood Count.
- ESR, CRP.
- Ultrasound of neck and abdomen and pelvis to see abdominal lymph nodes, liver, spleen.
- Chest xray to see hilar lymph nodes.

Depending upon clinical evaluation and above test results there may be need for lymph node biopsy.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
