Hi,
Nuvaring contains both etonogestrel and ethinyl estradiol is a prescription birth control which is a comfortable, flexible birth control ring that is about 2 inches in diameter. The Nuvaring is a combination hormonal birth control option that slowly releases a low dose of synthetic estrogen and etonogestrel to protect you against pregnancy for 1 month. The release of hormones is activated by contact with the vagina. So, the walls of your vagina absorb the hormones and distribute them into your bloodstream.
Side effects of Nuvaring are nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness and enlargement,
frequent urination, heavy menstrual periods, back pain, muscle spasms, abdominal cramps, joint pain, headache, weight gain,
breakthrough bleeding, increased vaginal discharge,
vaginal irritation, repeated vaginal infections,
abdominal bloating, mood swings, depression, dizziness, fatigue, allergic reactions etc. But these side effects usually go away after 2-3 months and they don't happen to everyone who uses the ring. If these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor promptly for
medical help. You can do pregnancy test 7days after a missed period.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
