Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do Sore Rashes On The Legs And Buttocks Indicate?
I have a rash of pimple-like sores on my legs and buttocks. Some of them have been irritated to the point of an open sore with little to no weeping. They are very sensitive to the touch and have the appearance of inflamed hair follicles. I considered dermatitis, but have not noticed any swelling in the area around the sores and the sores do not present as infected; not red with widening red surrounding, not warmer than the surrounding skin, no fever or other flu-like symptoms. I have had one for more than a week and a second began within the last two days, but in a completely different area. Sore #1 is on the right calf approx 4 inches below the knee. Sore #2 is on the left hamstring approximately mid point between buttock and knee.
As per your query you have symptoms of sore rashes on the legs and buttocks which can occur due to many reasons like bacterial infection of hair follicles, fungal infection, allergic reaction due to detergent, soap, and contact dermatitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take Benadryl twice a day as of now and apply cold compresses and avoid any cosmetic product. You should maintain complete hygiene. Wear loose clothes and try cotton bottoms as it will avoid friction. I would suggest you to avoid touching or picking rash and consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe antihistamine , corticosteroid ointment and may give adrenaline short.
