Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am experiencing several symptoms that may be caused by a tooth/tooth decay. I do have a tooth, upper left, that needs a filling. Symptoms: a sore throat. Pain in left side of jaw, pain in left cheek bone up into temple, and behind left eye. Pain left side of forehead above eye. Fever, low level fever. Feeling chills. Are these symptoms of an infection?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
There is pain in the left upper tooth. Abscess formation which involves your floor of eye proceeding around eye socket. You need to take an x-ray of left upper teeth, involving left frontal & temporal bones to know the extent of infection.
Then follow antibiotic course with anti-inflammatory drug to resolve the inflammation. This is to be followed by cleaning and filling of the tooth or extraction & prosthetic management thereafter.
Hot saline gargling would help. Avoid local application of pain medicines (vicks), avoid fomentation. Take OTC pain medicine till you visit the expert. Please consult your dentist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
