What Do Swelling And Inflammation On The Leg After An Injury Indicate?

I am Raj, 49 male, My leg took a painful blow by a wooden rod 10 days ago....but later on there was lump developed 10 inches below my right knee. Just below the lump and around it, there are red patches causing swelling and inflammation. What is this? Any treatment for it?. I am diabetic too.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Kindly get your leg X-ray done. Because if any fracture of bones are there, it pains a lot and presents with swelling. If there is any hematoma collection then it needs some time to get relieved. It takes the minimum of 2 weeks to subside. Until then you can take any painkillers like Diclofenac or Tramadol for time being for 3-5 days.

Hope this information helps you sort out your problems. If you feel its helpful kindly give me user thanks vote.
Happy health!
Regards,
Dr. Archana
