What Do Swollen Lymph Nodes Under The Chin Indicate?

I am an adult with very swollen glands under my chin. I had a strep test and it wasn t positive but it wasn t negative and my dr assumed it is strep and I am on an antibiotic. I have been on the medicine for 3 days and only have 2 days left on it. The swelling of my glands and only mildly subsided. I have a 6 month old grandson and I am not sure if I could be contagious to him if I have the mumps instead of strep. Is he in danger if I were to see him or his siblings? How long should I avoid contact with him.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to an infection somewhere in the nearby region.

Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
