What Do Swollen Salivary Glands On The Left Cheek Indicate?
when going to sleep or if I touch part of my upper front neck I suddenly startle and exclaim a loud ah. would a growth or something cause this reaction? My salivary gland left check also swells periodically and both sides of this gland, in my check are harder and sensitive. What type of doctor do I need to see? which diagnostics (minimal costs)? I was thinking it was a salivary stone but the gasps started (one or more a night depending on how I move my neck) a month ago?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The pain with the salivary glands is generally worse when you eat and you continue to feel it afterwards and gets worse when you touch it as well. But if the pain is not worse when you eat it is very unlikely it is due to the salivary gland. Otherwise, very likely it is a hurt muscle of a lymphnode or some other structures in the neck.
You will need to see your GP (local doctor). He will examine you and according to the most likely structure causing the symptoms he will refer you to the proper specialist and order the proper tests. This would also be the best cost-effective approach.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Antoneta Zotaj, MD
