What Do Swollen Taste Buds And A Blister In The Throat Indicate?
Hi. I work in a daycare and have noticed since two days ago my glands in my mouth swelled up after I ate tomato soup at home. Then the day after I noticed my mouth hurting on my tounge, when I looked my taste buds were risen and looked really red. Today I see a big blister at the back of my thoart and my tounge on the left side hurts so much when I eat I feel only pain. There is also trouble swallowing and when i lift my young up it hurts ?
It looks like there is inflammation of the tongue and due to inflammation there is swollen taste buds and ulcer formation at the back of throat. It can also be secondary to throat infection.
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated. An oral and throat swab culture can be done to check out infection.
For now, you can start gargling with specialised mouthwash like Magic Mouthwash. You can do warm saline gargles and suck Cepacol lozenges as it helps in reducing pain.
You can also take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen. Take Vitamin B complex supplement. In case if there is infection, Antibiotics will be prescribed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
